About Villa Leone

Our villa is located on Guana Bay in St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles. The area surrounding the villa is nestled between the foot of a large hill and the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. We are 3-1/2 hours from New York and 3 hours from Miami. Both Continental and American Airlines service the island. We are on the Dutch side of the island, 25 minutes from Juliana Airport and 15 minutes from Downtown Philipsburg. Philipsburg has shopping, fine restaurants, medium and expensively priced. This is where the cruise ships dock. We are on the tradewind, or windward side, which offers great winds 12 months a year. We are 25 minutes from Marigot, the capitol of the French side, and 20 minutes from Grand Case where many of the finest restaurants are located.

The villa was designed by an innovative and creative Canadian architect named Jacques B. Poirier. He was awarded a patent for his "Archimedes" design which results in an amazingly strong and weather tight structure able to withstand the most severe hurricane, as proven in 1995 with Hurricane Luis. The architectural style can best be described as post modern. When viewed together from a distance, the villas resemble traditional Greek houses which cover the slopes of many Aegean islands such as Mykonos and Santorini. After the severe hurricane, the landscaping was redone and the pool replaced. The Villa #1, which adjoins Villa Leone, has just recently been demolished to make way for the new Villa #1 that will soon take it's place.

We are on Guana Bay overlooking St.Barths, which is one of the most breathtaking views in all of St.Maarten! Our water has great waves! To the left of the villa is Gibbs Bay, an undiscovered beach with tranquil waters. All other beaches on the island are easily accessible by car. It is rare that you will see other people on Guana Bay Beach, making it great for that morning run

or evening stroll.

The villa has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, sleeping 6. The master bedroom , just off the living room, has a queen size bed with a private tiled bathroom with a bidet, a pedestal sink, and fully tiled shower. The guest bedroom is on the second floor with a private bath and two twin beds overlooking b the sea. The villa is very conducive for two couples as there is total privacy from one floor to the other. The living room has a sofa that opens to sleep 2, a loveseat, chair, an armoire, color TV, wireless internet access and cd player. The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, dishwasher, coffee machine, toaster, blender, dishes,silverware, etc.

  A new 2 bedroom villa has recently been completed below the new large oceanfront deck. This villa is not available for rental.

The deck overlooks the ocean. Our dining table seats 4. There is also a table for dining on the deck that seats 4. This villa is truly oceanfront! You are so close to the pounding surf that you can hear the waves breaking on the coral reef below the balcony.
